Canadian Miguel Duhamel may not compete in the upcoming Daytona 200 road race.

Duhamel, who has won the prestigious and grueling American race five times, has not been re-signed by long-time employer American Honda.

Two other Daytona 200 winners, Steve Rapp (2007) and Chaz Davies (2008), are also without rides.

The Erion Honda team has signed Honda stalwart Jake Zemke, and Neil Hodgson will race a Honda in the 200, for either the Erion or the Corona Honda team.

The Daytona 200 will be held March 6 and for the first time will be a night race. The race marks the start of the American Superbike series season, even though the 200-mile-long, 68-lap event was moved down the ladder from Superbike status to the less-powerful Formula Xtreme class in 2005, due to safety concerns.

Duhamel’s first 200 win was in 1991, and his most recent was in 2005, both times for Honda. Miguel was not the first Canadian to win the Daytona race, however. That was Mr. Billy Matthews, on a Norton, in 1941. He doesn’t have a ride for this year’s race, either.
