Two new directors were elected for a two-year term at the Canadian Motorcycle Association’s annual general meeting in Hamilton.
Joseph Godsall of British Columbia and Marc-Andre Thibeault of Quebec join the board, while David Hewgill (Alberta), Paul Imrie (Saskatchewan), Hugh Lim (Ontario), and Holly Ralph (director at large) enter the second year of their two-year terms.
The 2008 Awards of Honour went to: The Lower Mainland Motocross Club, Mission, B.C., for contribution to and support of the CMA motocross program; the Northern Exposure Rally, Mark Daub, Blind River, Ont., for support of the CMA through Member Recruitment; and the City of Toronto gets the new "Government Award" for the introduction of its free parking for motorcycles policy.
For Competition Awards, the 2008 winner of the prestigious White Memorial Trophy, given to the Canadian rider who has the most outstanding performance in winning a No. 1 Plate, is dirt track ace Donald Taylor of Welland, Ont., his third time winning.
The Bert Irwin Memorial ISDE Award for the best performance at the International Six Days Enduro (ISDE) went to Dave Neumeister for his silver medal ride this year in Greece. Dave is an Albertan currently living in Loveland, Colorado.
Why the CMA still exists is beyond me. They have done nothing to protect motorcyclists in this country.
