The British auction house Bonhams has sold what might be the most famous Lambretta ever seen.

Jimmy’s Lambretta from the Who rock opera film Quadrophenia went for 36,000 pounds, or about $66,750 Canadian.

The 1967 Lambretta Li 150 was sold to a dealer in Portsmouth, G.B., after filming completed, and variously owned by other individuals until its most recent current owner noticed it in a garden in Southsea.

He worked out sale terms and took possession of the bike and the multitude of accessories, which had been stored.

The owner finished a restoration of Jimmy’s Lambretta in 1995, and the scooter went on tour, was featured on the cover of Scootering International magazine, and appeared at a re-release of Quadrophenia in 1997, reunited with actor Phil Daniels, who rode it in the film.

The most recent buyer has apparently remained anonymous.
