If you’ve got a yen for adventure and a few weeks to spare in March, you might want to consider taking this African safari.
The Heroes Legend rally is a "softer more, attainable adventure for the average enthusiast," says Canadian off-road expert Lawrence Hacking, who knows what that means, since he’s tried the "harder, less attainable adventure for the above-average expert," which his called the Paris-Dakar.
The Heroes Legend goes from Paris to Dakar, however, so you still get to enjoy the French cuisine, the lush African scenery, the fine hotels and beautiful women that attracts so many competitors to the original rally. Or not…
According to Hacking, who has ridden the original, "it would be a great experience" and is "well organized by experienced people." The rally runs March 7 – 21, 2009.
Hacking offers to send info to anyone who’s interested in taking part, so e-mail us if you feel the need for some rally speed, and we’ll see what we can do.
