Running down in Rio
A Green Party candidate for mayor in the Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro is popular not just because because he rides a motorcycle, but also because he’s a true rebel.
As in, he kidnapped the U.S. ambassador to Brazil 40 years ago. And if that’s not enough to win hearts and minds, the 67-year-old swims 1.5 km every morning to keep in shape.
Fernando Gabeira wants marijuana legalized and is apparently running a strong campaign for mayor. Oh, and we hear that he let the ambassador go, unharmed.
If only Canadian politics were anywhere near as much fun.
