Zen and Now

zennow.jpgMark Richardson – editor of the Toronto Star’s automotive section and motorcyclist – has just come out with a book in homage to Robert Pirsig’s ’68 cult work of philosophy and personal narrative; Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance.

Richardson’s book entitled Zen and Now – On the Trail of Robert Pirsig and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance documents his retracing of Pirsig’s orginal route from Minneapolis to San Francisco. On it, he revisits the people and places from Zen and explores Pirsig’s struggles with mental illness and the loss of his son Chris who was murdered in 1979.

Zen and Now – On the Trail of Robert Pirsig and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance is published by Knopf Canada and retails for C$29.95 (although can be found for a lot less on online stores). More information (as well as a free download of the first chapter) is available at www.zenandnow.org.
