New Harleys for 2009

Harley-Davidson has introduced a 2009 line-up with revisions to almost every model, including touring models with new chassis and other upgrades, a new V-Rod, a Dyna Street Bob with retro styling, an updated Heritage Softail Classic and a trike!

Tourers like the Road King Classic get a new chassis.

TOURING GETS NEW CHASSIS

The seven touring models all now get a new chassis that consists of a new frame, swingarm and wheels. The result is claimed to be better handling and increased luggage capacity. Oh and the pipe’s been redesigned for "better heat management".

Any other questions? Good, let’s carry on then shall we.

DYNA STREET BOB

In the Dyna range, the Street Bob has been redone, with bobbed and
blacked out features, a new speedo in silver, a chopped rear fender,
and solo seat. Mini ape-hangers are internally wired so that you get
that unwired looking handlebar thing going. MSRP is $14,299 for Vivid Black or $14,679 for Pearl paint.

HERITAGE SOFTAIL CLASSIC

The Softail range has been updated, with the
Heritage Softail Classic getting a beefier front end with a restyled
fender and chrome headlight nacelle, taller handlebars, and
glass-filled 3-D badges on the fuel tank, which is topped with a "Cat
Eye" console. Mmmhh, cat eye console …

MSRP is $19,989, $20,369, $20,709 or $20,899  depending on required colour.

New V-Rod flexes its muscle.

V-ROD GOES MUSCLE

The new V-Rod is called the Muscle which gets a wide, angular air-box cover and a chopped tail section, a wide 240 mm rear tire, and an LED taillight. Silver five-spoke cast aluminum wheels, and a new deep seat contribute to the muscularly look.

MSRP is $18,939 for Vivid Black with an additional $340 for Pearl.

ULTRA CLASSIC TRIKE

A new three-wheeled Ultra Classic touring Harley, the Tri Glide, makes its debut and is engineered specifically for the demands of a three-wheeled motorcycle. Eh, what would they be then? Good question – Forks have been lengthened, a steering damper is used, and a new rear-axle assembly uses an aluminum centre section with steel axle tubes. No MSRP at this time.

CVO models swell and improve.

THE OTHER STUFF

Harley’s Custom Vehicle Operations have a new member in the shape of the Fat Bob with Fang cast wheels, an 1800 cc Screaming Eagle motor and lashings of fancy bits.

There’s also some refired models, including the CVO Road Glide, with a lowered front fender and skirted saddlebags, and the CVO Ultra Classic Electra Glide with custom paint, a modular frame, a new 180 mm rear tire, and a 2-into-1-into-2 exhaust. ABS is included. MSRP is $27,859, about 10 grand up on the standard Fat Bob.

And finally, the Softail Cross Bones gets a glossy black springer front fork, a
gloss-black round air cover, a sprung solo seat, glossy black mini
apes, and a Willie G-autographed skull graphic on the oil tank.
