Rallyfest gone to the dogs

A biting dog and a lawyer (but we repeat ourselves) have managed to shut down a rally by the Lake Superior Riders.

According to the club’s website, a visitor who was bitten by a dog at the rally sued the Ontario Sault Ste Marie club, the campground, and the dog’s owner — this despite the fact that the dog was tied up and the visitor was cutting across a private campsite at the time of the bite.

The case was dismissed, but the club’s insurer had a fit and forced them to pay their deductible. Since money raised by the rally was donated to a local hospital fund, the group has had to initiate fundraising efforts to pay the insurance cost. "We have learned the hard way that even when you’re right, it can cost you big time!" the website note says.
