Monkey bike worth thousands

sm_lennon-monkeybike.jpg John Lennon’s monkey bike was sold for £30,000 on Wednesday by British auction house Bonhams.

A reserve price for the Honda 160Z owned by the late Beatle had been set at £6,000 – £8,000, but phone buyers knocked the price up in £1,000 increments, sending it much higher than its owner had expected.

Richard Anderson had been given by the monkey bike by Ringo Starr, who had taken over Lennon’s country home when Lennon moved to the U.S. Anderson had helped Starr move there and received the bike as a thank-you gift.
