Buell has developed a police model from its XB12 Ulysses, a "special duty patrol vehicle" for police agencies and private security firms, according to the company.
Powered by the same 1203 cc V-twin seen in other Buells, the XB12XP police bike uses fully adjustable Showa suspension pieces front and rear, and includes an LED light package in red, blue, or both, a tall windscreen, heated grips, and hard luggage.
Dry weight of the police model with lights is 218 kg (480 lb), and Buell claim that it will provide "very nimble" handling for police use over highways, streets, and unpaved roads.
The bike is also capable of carrying a passenger, so for cadets anxious to give their girlfriends (or boyfriends) a special thrill on a Friday night, it may be just the thing.
It’s scheduled for production this summer. It seems likely that the XB police model will be available to Canadian police agencies — if any of them want it — but don’t expect to park one in your garage unless you wear a badge.
