New plant opens in Japan

honda_kumamoto.jpgProduction of Honda motorcycles at the new Kumamoto factory has begun, the company says. The Japanese plant replaces the idled Marysville, Ohio plant, which represented Honda motorcycle production in the U.S. for many years, but was recently shut down.

Honda says its new Japanese plant uses high-tech efficiency and environmental features to ease its pressure on the earth and improve production, as well as the work environment for its legions of employees.

The new plant can produce half a million motorcycles and ATVs a year.
