Recalls

Two recalls this week, Kawasaki’s KLR650 and Victory’s Vision.

KLR650_rsf_sm.jpgCompany: Kawasaki

Models involved: KLR 650 (2002 – 2008)

Problem: The muffler mounting bolts may not have been tightened up to spec

Consequence: Bolts could fall out and cause you to lose your muffler. Apart from sudden ability to save your life due to load pipes (bollocks), departing muffler may take out surrounding cars, pedestrians and small voles.

Fix
: Take to your dealer who will appear with big shiny torque wrench, torque to the required spec and promptly disappear.

"Dude, I’m confused!"

Company: Victory

Models involved: Vision Street and Tours (2008s)

Problem: A circuit board within the voltage regulator may be a bit iffy. Iffyness can create a short and illuminate the engine check light.
Doesn’t sound too bad does it? But wait, there’s more. If this happens
when a battery connection is loose then the power train control module
goes like "Dude, what you’re telling me doesn’t make sense. Like, it’s
do this, then do that, then no, do it like this". As expected this will
eventually lead to a stalling of the motor.

Consequence: Stalled motor when riding could lead to a crash … especially if you’re a shite rider.

Fix
: Dealer will replace voltage regulator/rectifier with non-iffy model.

Recall Number
: 2007350

  1. I love the irreverence and laughed out loud at ‘shite rider’
in the Consequences section “Consequence: Stalled motor when riding could lead to a crash … especially if you’re a shite rider.” :zzz
