ACCESSORIZE

Mr. Lewis tries in vain to grasp the intricacies of fitting the screen (see below).

Because of the type of customer expected to buy the Majesty, Yamaha offer a number of practical options for enhancing its usefulness. We decided that we should, on your behalf, rigorously test these items. As they were all bolt-ons, we thought it might be nice to show you how easy they were to fit.

Obviously, we didn’t get our hands dirty (fingers are for typing, after all) so our thanks go to Head-Spanner Dave Sheppard and Chief Cook and Scooter-washer, Bryan Hudgin.

Bloody good show, chaps.

All the accessories are supplied with fitting instructions, but to give you an idea ...

TALL WINDSCREEN

Tall Screen on the right.

In case you hadn't noticed.

As you can see from the photo, the screen has both extra height and gives more protection to the hands (particularly noticeable in the wet).

Fitting the screen is straightforward:

1. Remove “finisher” panel (5 clips, 2 screws).

2. Remove old screen securing screw (6 in total).

3. Remove old screen and fling to furthest corner of workshop. Alternatively, give to kids as sled.

4. Substitute schmancy new screen.

5. Re-fitting is the reverse of removal.

Part Number is 5RU-W0710-10-00, MSRP $249.95 and fitting time time is 60 minutes.

REAR RACK

With a look of steely determination, Mr. Sheppard tries to convince us he's working hard.

The rack is injection molded plastic and has a weight limit of 5kg – looking at its position, hung way-out the back of the scooter, it would seem wise to not exceed it (well, by much anyway).

Fitting is a little more involved: -

1. Remove pillion seat (2 screws).

2. Remove grab-rail finisher (2 more screws).

3. Fit base of rack (yes, you guessed it – 2 screws).

4. Fit top of rack (more variety this time, 10 screws, 2 inserts and a washer).

5. Job done.

Part Number is 5RU-W0736-00-00, MSRP $274.95 and fitting time is 30 minutes.

GRIP HEATER KIT

Happiness for hands.

Worth their weight in gold – supplied complete with an on/off and variable heat control, allowing you to toast your pinkies to perfection.

Sadly, we were not present when these were fitted but what we do know is that there is a long (24 hour) curing time for the adhesive used, so plan accordingly to avoid the grips-sliding-off-the-bars-at-speed nightmare.

Part Number is 5RU-W0792-00-00, MSRP $408.95 and fitting time is 90 minutes.

TOP CASE

They even washed it for us afterwards.

Thanks Bryan.

The top case has a 44 litre storage capacity and is colour matched to the Majesty. It is designed to be water-tight (and so it proved), is quickly-detachable, lockable and has large built-in reflectors.

It obviously requires the rear rack to be fitted first.

Fitting is limited to the attachment of a locking lug at the rear of the rack (2 screws) and plonking it in place.

Part Number is 44L-W0754-25-00, MSRP $234.95 and fitting time is 30 Minutes.
