22nd Jul 2016 - 24th Jul 2016@ Panorama Resort Hotel
About the event
Anybody seriously interested in adventure riding should know about Horizons Unlimited and their mission of promoting travel (if not, click here!). This Mountain Madness event isn’t your usual HU weekend, filled with presentations and how-tos, but a two-day off-road motorcycle orienteering and geocaching challenge in the Rockies.
There are two classes of bikes – multi-cylinder and single-cylinder, split into a further two groups of GPS guided routes or map routes. Bikes must have “off-road pretensions” (read adventure and dual-sport bikes), and knobby tires are a plus but not required so the route should be on the simple side. Riders must be in teams of 2 to 4, but if you do not have a riding partner the organizers can match you up.
The event takes place at the ski resort of Panorama located in the Rocky Mountains and so offers plenty of accommodation (including camping) and facilities. There are two full days of riding, wrapping up with a rally awards dinner. Pricing includes Spot rental and recovery services in case of a breakdown or medical assistance.
Full details on the event’s rules and features are at the Horizons Unlimited site here, as well as various price plans. CMG will be attending to cover the event as part of our Summer Adventure series.
