Within the space of the last two weeks, Yamaha have announced their Warrior, Kawasaki their Mean Streak and just in the last few days, Harley have announced their new liquid cooled V-Rod (although we had to find all the info ourselves as Harley Canada seem to deem us to be unworthy of the info).
I remember when the EX500 first came out. The press were excited about this 500cc twin that was “half a Ninja” – the motor being based on just two of the cylinders of the then current four cylinder 1000cc.
I’m a big fan of dual sport bikes. In fact, if you think about it, it could be argued that the dual sport is really the only bike you need.
The 2002 Goldwing 1800 is a radical departure from Goldwings of the past. Where before it represented, no, was the definitive fat-bastard touring machine, the latest incarnation is almost … well, a sport tourer – If something weighing in at 363 Kg (almost 800 lbs!), can be considered anything close to sporty.
I love the new F4i. It’s like a 599cc Fireblade, and provides an excellent all around ride.
Apparently size matters and Honda reckon that their new VTX 1800 will make everyone else feel like they’re ridding Mr. Tiddles. If you believe the hype then I had the biggest in all of Daytona.
Stumbling out of the Four Seasons hotel in Austin early Saturday morning welcomed us with a rather chilly and rain clouded day. The hangover was not as bad as I deserved, and the line up of R and RT motorcycles testified of the riding pleasure to come.
Everything slowed down for a moment, as the sounds of revving motors all around me lost their bark. I took one big deep breath and let the clutch go in unison with the flag drop.
Ah, race day. I wanted to leave nothing to chance today so got up early and made sure that I had my mind around everything.
Although I suspected that the rider’s meeting would be much the same as yesterday and still in French, I dutifully attended and as expected, left non the wiser.
