Summary of Proposal:
Ontario introduced a motorcycle handlebar height restriction of 380mm, in 2009 (HTA Reg. 596: GENERAL). Currently, Regulation 596 s. 10(1) (GENERAL) of the Highway Traffic Act (HTA) restricts the operation of a motorcycle or motor assisted bicycle on highway if the motorcycles handlebars are more than 380mm in height above the highest portion of the seat while the operator is seated.

Analysis of Regulatory Impact:
It is anticipated that this proposal will not have any administrative costs for business. The proposed amendment will eliminate a barrier to the Ontario market by permitting additional motorcycle handlebar configurations on controlled-access highways.
