Yamaha Motoroid to appear at Tokyo Motor Show

Remember Motobot, the robot rider that Yamaha developed a while back? Well, its successor, known as Motoroid, will appear at the Tokyo Motor Show later this month.

While Motobot was an AI-controlled pilot that rode the motorcycle, Motoroid is actually the vehicle—no android behind the bars here. It’s battery-powered, and Yamaha says the AI will recognize and interact with the owner.

If that sounds somewhat familiar, it’s because Kawasaki is also working on something along these lines, although we’ve seen very little about that platform at this point; Yamaha has kept its artificial intelligence endeavours front and centre.

Along with Motoroid, Yamaha also plans to exhibit the latest version of Motobot at the Tokyo Show later this month.
