To nobody’s surprise, Ducati has finally unveiled the production-ready Streetfighter V4.
When Ducati first revealed this was coming, the moto-public immediately expected a bonkers-fast naked bike, and that’s what they’re getting. Ducati’s official description of the bike is that it’s a “Panigale V4 stripped of the fairings, with high and wide handlebar, 178 Kg powered by 1.100 cc Desmosedici Stradale delivering 208 Hp hold at bay by biplane wings and a complete electronic package.”
That’s only part of the story, though. The new naked bike is actually going to be released in two versions, the Streetfighter V4 and the Streetfighter V4 S.
Both bikes are built around the 1,103 cc Desmosedici Stradale V4, making 208 hp at 12,750 rpm, and 90 lb-ft of torque at 11,500 rpm. Bolt on Ducati’s race-ready Akrapovic exhaust, and you can boost those numbers to 220 hp and 96 lb-ft of torque.
When you get to the suspension system, you start to see the differences between the bikes. The standard Streetfighter V4 has 43 mm Showa Big Piston forks and Sachs shock, both fully adjustable, as well as a Sachs steering damper. The Streetfighter V4 S has Ohlins NIX-30 forks and TTX36 rear shock, and an Ohlins steering damper that’s electronically controlled. The S model’s suspension can be set to be semi-active, or can be run as standard suspension.
The Streetfighter V4 also has two sets of winglets, which are supposed to improve airflow to the oil cooler and radiator as well as provide aerodynamic downforce, tuned with input from the Ducati Corse MotoGP team. Both bikes also feature Brembo Stylema monobloc front brake calipers mated to 330 mm discs, and 245 mm rear disc with two-piston caliper.
Canadian pricing and availability for these bikes has yet to be announced.
