The Toronto Motorcycle Film Festival will run for the third time this October, and we hear festival czar Caius Tenche has a fever: the only prescription, he tells us, is more cowbell Canadian moto-movies.
Of course, the festival draws from all over the world, and there’s no shortage of Euro submissions, or stuff from the US. But as the festival is based in Toronto, those involved would like to see more CanCon. After all, there is a specific award for Best Canadian Film.
So, now’s the time to submit your film—the window closes on July 12. As usual, the TMFF is looking for features, shorts, narratives or documentaries.
Most of this year’s TMFF judge panel has been announced. CMG’s managing editor Dustin Woods will be on the panel, along with Vicki Gray of Motoress, poet/filmmaker Kate O’Connor Morris and TV host/creator Scott Wilson (you may remember him from the Departures series, and he’s also written for CMG).
Because the film festival runs over a three-day period (Oct. 3-5 at Toronto’s Revue Cinema), and people like to watch movies all year ’round, the Festival organizers have also been planning outdoor movie nights again for 2019, with the first running this weekend. On Thursday night (June 27), they’re screening some past festival favourite films at sponsor Pfaff Harley-Davidson’s location. The party starts with hangout time at 7 PM, the movies actually start screening at 9:15 PM.
