Horizons Unlimited is finally returning to the Atlantic coast, and this time, they’re going wayyyyyyy far east.
The motorcycle travel-focused organization has announced an event based in Newfoundland, at Killdevil Camp and Conference Centre, on August 11-14 of next summer.
While it may seem a bit early to talk about events in 2020, it’s also true that Newfoundland is pretty far off the beaten track, so in this case, a bit of forward planning is probably good, especially as you’ll have to factor in a couple of ferry crossings.
The HU website has few details on the event—no speaker list, and it isn’t clear if it’s just a travelers’ meeting, or a riding event, or what. Presumably, more details are coming.
However, given the event’s location in western Newfoundland, handy to Gros Morne National Park, the riding in the area is indeed fantastic. Even if there’s no official moto-action built into the schedule, you’d be silly to pass up the chance to explore one of Canada’s least-known motorcycle playgrounds.
Also, considering the location in western Newfoundland, this event could easily tack onto a tour of the Trans Labrador Highway. It’s basically en route if you’re entering or leaving Labrador by the Blanc Sablon ferry.

Here’s a little update on the event to help answer your questions:
It’s a Travellers Meeting – which at HU always means loads of inspiring and informative seminars and presentations, as well as a great opportunity to meet travel minded people from all over the world.
There’s never a speakers list until shortly before the event, as it’s all volunteer speakers, and we know travellers never know for sure where they’re going to be, especially over a year in advance! Be assured, there’ll be enough to keep you entertained.
Mere days after we announced the event, there’s been huge interest, and we’ve had to create a Facebook page for the discussion that started on the Main HU Facebook group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/thehubb/ and now onto the new HU Newfoundland Event group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/444477452972040.
More details to come as we sort them out, and find time to add to the page. Right now we’re very busy with 25 events in 16 countries in 2019!
