Even though it already has the Himalayan 401 adventure bike in the lineup, Royal Enfield is hinting it’s getting back into the dual-purpose motorcycle segment with a new model.
The buzz comes after Royal Enfield released images on social media showing a classic-styled bike in the middle of crossing a river. There was a promise of more information on March 26, but aside from that, no solid details were released.
However, the Indian moto-press seems fairly convinced this machine will be a scrambler based on Royal Enfield’s existing 350 and 500 platforms, both powered by air-cooled engines. The bikes will likely be capable of mild off-roading, but overall, the expectation is that they’ll be more street-oriented, with the Himalayan continuing to hold down the more offroad-oriented work for Royal Enfield. Either way, we’ll know more by the month’s end.

You mean RE’s existing 350 and 500

Yeah, they’d have to use a time machine to get those 350 and 500 Triumph platforms. There PROBABLY is something coming in the future … and it’ll be made in India … but they won’t let RE use it.
I’ve used the fuel
Injected RE C500 for a couple of years. Really fun to ride but Clunky, leaks all over the place and less reliable than the carbed version of the RE500. Certainly hope that upped their quality control now.
The 650 twin is a beautiful Machine. Rode it when I was in india.
If the reliability issues are taken care of, I feel that the 650s might be a better scrambler platform.
