In case you were busy watching Marc Marquez win his seventh world title and missed the rest of the world’s roadracing action over the weekend, here’s a quick update on how Canadian racers Jonathan Finn and Darren James fared in Europe.
Darren James
After a disappointing crash at the North West 200 this spring (not just a poor result, it also cost him some finger tips), Darren James was back in Ireland to take on the Sunflower Trophy races at Bishopscourt Circuit. James started the SuperTwins race in 11th and quickly worked himself up to fifth, thanks to a great start.
Then, disaster struck, when James went off in Turn 2, what he described as a “a 100mph plus 4th gear turn.” James went flying through the air and was banged up enough to be deemed unfit to ride in Race 2. Bummer. But at least he doesn’t seem to have lost any more body parts. He’s keen to get back and redeem himself at the NW200 next season, so he can’t be hurting too badly.
Jonathan Finn
Jonathan Finn (pictured) was racing in Spain’s Pre Moto 3 championship, at the season’s final showdown at Jerez. Finn went into the weekend sick, with a fever and nasty head cold, and ended up with 17th when everything settled. Definitely not the result he wanted. But Finn’s happy to be home now, after a season of racing away from home, and now it’s time to plan for next year, and his drive to make it into Moto3.
