BMW teases new superbike

A few weeks ago, we saw patent drawings surface for a new BMW S1000 RR, but since then, it’s been quiet, with no official news of the new superbike’s arrival. Until now, that is.

This video, posted to BMW’s UK Facebook page yesterday, doesn’t show anything, but we get a good listen to what the new bike sounds like, as it screams by the camera in a blur.

However, from the previously unearthed drawings, we do have a good idea of what the new machine will look like. It’s ditched the oddball asymmetrical headlight look that’s defined the S1000 line, and gone with a much more conventional balanced appearance. There’s an underbraced swingarm, redesigned engine, revamped frame and new bodywork.

According to rumour, the new bike will have a counter-rotating crankshaft and will make much more power. We should see it at the EICMA show, and we’ll know all then.
