You don’t hear much about the Shiver 900, but it’s still soldiering in the Aprilia lineup, serving as an interesting option if you want an Italian naked bike. And for 2019, it’s getting some updates—nothing crazy, but some solid incremental changes.
For 2019, the Shiver 900 gets a new ECU, which, along with updated low-friction pistons and dry sump oiling is supposed to make the liquid-cooled V-twin run more efficiently. Aprilia says it makes for a smoother ride as well. There’s also an automatic decompression system for easier engine starts.
Other updates include a revised exhaust that expels its gasses in a different direction from the previous model (apparently there were complaints about that in the outgoing model). A little detail, for sure, but something to keep the customers happy.
The Shiver 900 comes with the base-level electronics safety package you’d expect on a Euro naked (ABS, traction control, riding modes, TFT screen), but for 2019, Aprilia has added a multimedia capability to the bike that will allow for GPS navigation via a Bluetooth link to your smartphone.
It took a while for the original Shiver 900 to make it to Canada, but we’d expect to see this machine here sometime in 2019, roughly around the $10,000 mark, same as the previous model.
