Canadian Racing Round Up: Dumas Doubles at Barber

Canadian and MotoAmerica Junior Cup champion Alex Dumas closed out the season in style on Sunday, claiming the second race of the weekend to complete a clean sweep. Dumas qualified on pole and took Race 1 by just over a second from  Cory Ventura and Renzo Ferreira.

Race 2 saw the KTM rider cruise to a five-second win over Kawasaki rider Damian Jigalov, with Cory Ventura in third. Dumas will fly to France for a wildcard ride in the World SuperSport championship race at Magny-Cours next weekend, September 28-30.

In the Supersport class, Braeden Ortt qualified fourth, and managed to hold that position in a red-flag marred Race 1. The race was split into two after a nasty crash between Nolan Lamkin and Andrew Bowen. Both riders were later released from hospital.

Ortt’s result sees him clinch ninth in the Supersport championship.

And fresh off his career-first win at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park in the Canadian Superbike Championship, BMW rider Ben Young managed a top-10 in his one-off MotoAmerica rider in Alabama.

Young qualified 14th and finished 13th in Race 1, before climbing into the top 10 in Race 2.

  1. First of all, a big thanks to CMG for posting information and video links about Canadian racers. Second congratulations to Alex, I watched the races, fantastic riding while others were crashing trying to keep up, he kept riding fast and smooth, a real joy to watch. I really hope he goes far in the sport. Third I would hope more people watch and enjoy and also use the opportunity to learn to be a better rider. Thanks again Jacob and all of CMG for supporting Canadian racers, I really respect and admire the work you have done, and keep doing. Cam
