Racing Roundup: Canadians on fire in America

Canadians had a hot weekend in Utah, with Alex Dumas and Braeden Ortt both putting up great results in MotoAmerica’s sixth race weekend of the year.

Dumas had the better weekend, with a win in Saturdays’ Junior Cup race aboard his KTM RC390, and a third in Sunday’s race. That leaves him with 166 points in the championship race, a healthy first place overall. Next-closest is Ashton Yates with 118 points, then Sean Ungvasky at 105 points. Yates ignored a ride-through penalty and was black-flagged in Race 2, which seriously hurt his chances of catching up to Dumas this year, although anything can happen in racing.

Ortt finished top-five in both Supersport races on his Yamaha R6, with a fifth-place finish on Saturday and third on Sunday. He’s sitting fifth overall now, with 87 points; JD Beach leads the Supersport class with 215 points.
