Racing Roundup: Canadians in action abroad

For the Canada Day weekend, not every Canuck racer was involved in CSBK action.

AMA Flat Track

Some of our country’s hotshot flat trackers decided to take on the Lima Half-Mile at Allen County Fairgrounds in Lima, Ohio, and one of them came home with a very respectable finish.

Brodie Buchan, winner of Flat Track Canada’s 2017 Open Expert Championship and holder of the overall title last year, bagged fourth in the 15-lap AFT Singles Main Event on June 30. His Honda CRF450R was 7.581 seconds behind winner Shayna Texter, and 1.132 behind third-place Dan Bromley. Another Ontario native, Tyler Seguin, earned an 11th in that same race, also aboard a Honda. Buchan’s points land him in 26th spot in the overall AFT Singles standings, and Seguin’s points leave him in 37th overall — they’re not threatening for any sort of title challenge, but it shows they have what it takes to race in the US.

Kruger returns to Euro roadracing

Although Dan Kruger has had most of his success in China’s Pan Delta superbike series, he’s also done some street circuit racing in the past, including the Macau GP and some European road courses (even the prestigious Frohburg and Isle of Man TT events).

Kruger seems to have returned to his previously speedy form after a big crash at Suzuka a couple of years back, holding down second in the Pan Delta series now, and it seems the Europeans have taken notice: he’s been asked to race there again, this time with Wepol Racing. This weekend, Kruger will take on the Imatranajo race in Finland. This event is part of the International Road Racing Championship, and would put Kruger in some pretty legit company if he does well.
