No Honda Super Cub C125 for Canada

The Honda Super Cub is the most popular motorized vehicle in the world’s history, it’s being updated for 2019, it’s headed for the US market … and it’s not coming to Canada.

Last fall, Big Red announced updates to its fantastically popular step-through (more than 100 million units sold, since 1958!). In November, Honda said it would start selling a C125 Super Cub, based around the same fuel-injected four-speed air-cooled single-cylinder engine that powers the Honda Grom. That announcement grabbed plenty of attention, especially as the Grom has earned lots of fans over the past few years due to its blend of goofiness, fun and reliability.

The interest in the updated Super Cub was enough to bring it back to the American market, with an expected MSRP of $3,600. That’s low, but an even better deal when you consider ABS is standard on US models.

That would work out to about $4,600 CAD if the machine came to Canada—but it isn’t. At least, not for 2019. That’s the official line from Big Red’s Canadian arm, and that’s it; there was no talk about the bikes coming here at some future date, or not coming here. We’ll just have to wait and see, but if you really want one, we’d suggest you start pestering your local dealer. The OEMs are certainly capable of changing their mind, if they think they can whip up enough sales to make importation worthwhile.

  1. as a long term disabled person the old honda 50/70/90s were the only ones i could drive. would gladly get the modern look-alike.

  2. I just heard from Honda Canada as I had written them about having the Super Scout available in Canada. They said “if we receive enough interest expressed to Honda Canada we will launch the Super Scout.”
    Write, call, email or text Honda Canada if you want this to happen.

  4. I definitely would love a Super Cub….saw a 2020 in Florida and love the red rather than the blue….Come on Honda bring it to Canada

    • I’m thinking that since Honda doesn’t offer the Cub in Canada, I’ll trade my 2018 Goldwing DCT for the new Spyder.

  6. I WANT A SUPER CUB!!!! How can we twist Honda’s far-too-secret-way-of-doing-business-and-not-giving-us-the-vehicles-we-want arm to get the Super Cub here. Love their cars but they’re attitude towards public relations needs adjusting.

    • The chief honcho in Honda Canada is a car nut and an admitted “non-motorcycle fan”. Honda should fire him and give him the boot. (Mr, Honda would have done so.)

      • It’s sad. So few options compared to the USA. Basically have to import something if you don’t want the most common stuff.

  8. about 5100.00 duty and taxes all in . After Canadian dealers get their cut who knows, it may be better to bring it in ourselves.

  9. My first bike was a Honda 50 that I drove throughout high school in the 60s. Upgraded to 360 and then several other brands. I feel nostalgic towards the 125 Super Cub and would probably buy one but it looks like Honda lost a customer.

  10. Honda wants a fan base in Canada but won’t send the super cub 125 here. What are we people that haven’t supported Honda all these years!!! Thanks Honda for ignoring us. We will remember.

    • Been riding Honda’s since the early 60’s when I had a Supercub in high school. Right now
      I ride a 2018 DCT Goldwing that also doesn’t have a clutch lever. I have a small collection of vintage
      Honda’s – six so far. I was hoping to add a new 125 Supercub to my collection and be able to enjoy riding it … but guess I’ll have to go to the States to get one.

  13. “$4,600 CAD if the machine came to Canada” – It would never be less than 5 grand, probably closer to $5995. More than exchange rate goes into the price of such things. Americans can buy cars made here in Canada for less than we can…

  16. I would love one but wasn’t the purpose of this bike is to have super cheap transportation? $4600 is CB300 territory. $2500 would be more reasonable

  17. I’m not surprised at this decision. Actually, my interest lies with the Cross Cub 110 anyway, but that has zero chance of coming here if the Super Cub doesn’t. Lets hope they sell lots south of the border and Honda Canada reconsiders. Wonder where this leaves the Monkey?
