Roadracer Dan Kneen has died after crashing in practice for the Isle of Man Tourist Trophy.

Kneen was riding in the Superbike practice session when he crashed.

The official notification from organizers says Kneen died at the scene of the crash in Churchtown.

Kneen rode for Tyco BMW, and was reckoned to be one of the riders to watch this year, laying down good laps in practice sessions. He’d only achieved a single podium at the IOMTT, earning a third in the Superstock event last year, but was well-known for his three-win hat trick at the 2008 Manx GP event, which runs on the same course. He achieved that mark as a rookie at the event.

Kneen was a special fan favourite as he was a local, who lived in the Isle of Man. He was 30 years old, and leaves behind his partner Leanne.

CMG wishes to express our deep sympathy to his family and friends at this difficult time.

  1. I’m at the TT now. 2 riders have been killed and a third is seriously hurt.
That said racing had been amazing. Track records have been falling, weather has been hot and sunny.
Mcguiness was speaking at the MotoGP viewing in the VIP tent, was very entertaining, parting quote for the chairman “ this is the last bastion of free choice”
    Indeed.

  2. The most exciting event of the year and the most deadly. I can’t help but wonder why it’s allowed to continue? I mean, how much money does it bring to the local community and is is it really worth it?
