With the Canadian Superbike season about to start next weekend, Parts Canada and Yamaha have both announced support programs for the race series.
This year, Parts Canada is the title sponsor of the Amateur Sport Bike class, and will also help sponsor CSBK’s TSN presence. As well, Parts Canada is sponsoring a new prize the Hardest Charger award, for the Amateur Sport Bike class. As per the CSBK press release:
“A comparison of best lap times between Qualifying and each Race will determine the winner of the “Parts Canada Hardest Charger” for that event.
Competitors will only be allowed to win this special bonus once per season, so in the case of a repeat best effort, the second best racer will get the Award. At the completion of the CSBK tour at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park August 12, the results for the season will be tabulated and an overall Parts Canada Amateur Sport Bike Hardest Charger Champ will be crowned.”
Parts Canada is also sponsoring gear giveaways for contests and social media events throughout the season.
Yamaha, meanwhile, has announced it’s extending its bLU cRU Factory Ride program to the Lightweight Sport Bike class (previously, it’s only been available for off-road racers). The Yamaha rider with the most points in Lightweight Sport Bike will get to ride a Yamaha motorcycle for the 2019 season, and get a $2,500 parts credit and custom bLU cRU graphics. Yamaha’s also offering a contingency program for that series as well—full details in the press release below.
Yamaha announces Factory Ride Award, contingency for Amateur Lightweight Sport Bike
May 17, 2018 (Toronto, ON) – Yamaha Motor Canada has announced that its popular bLU cRU Factory Ride Award will be introduced to the Amateur Lightweight Sport Bike class for the 2018 Mopar Canadian Superbike Championship season. This marks the first year the popular Factory Ride Award will be made available to racers outside the motocross discipline.
In addition, Yamaha is posting $10,500 in bLU cRU contingency rewards for CSBK Lightweight racers competing on the Yamaha YZF-R3 or YZF-R3 ABS.
“The new Lightweight class is a breath of fresh air in road racing,” said Graeme Jones, marketing coordinator at Yamaha Motor Canada. “It presents the opportunity to bring a whole new wave of young racers into the sport, and gives Yamaha the opportunity to expand its bLU cRU initiative in Canada.”
bLU cRU FACTORY RIDE AWARD
Designed to support and encourage young, amateur Yamaha racers as they make their way up the racing ranks, the bLU cRU Factory Ride Award will be granted to the Yamaha racer with the most year-end points in the Amateur Lightweight Sport Bike class at the conclusion of the final round of the year at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park on August 10-12. The award includes complimentary use of a Yamaha R series motorcycle for the 2019 riding season, a $2,500 parts credit and a custom bLU cRU graphics kit, all to simulate that “factory” feel.
Yamaha bLU cRU Factory Ride Award eligibility:
1.Rider must be of Canadian citizenship and in good standing with the CSBK series.
2.Rider must be 25 years of age or younger as of May 1, 2018.
3.Rider must have competed for the entire season on a Yamaha R3 motorcycle purchased in Canada. Riders competing on another brand at any time during an official CSBK event will be ineligible.
4.The Yamaha name must be visible on both sides of the motorcycle.
5. A Yamaha bLU cRU sticker must be affixed to the race bike (available from CSBK staff).
bLU cRU CONTINGENCY PROGRAM
The bLU cRU contingency program is applicable to CSBK racers in Pro Superbike, Pro Sport Bike and Amateur Lightweight Sport Bike. In the Lightweight class, contingency rewards will be offered for finishing in the top five at each event and in the final point standings. Points will be awarded at all completed races on the CSBK national schedule (two races per weekend).
Amateur Lightweight Sport Bike bLU cRU contingency (per national event round):
1st: $250
2nd: $200
3rd: $150
4th: $100
5th: $50
Yamaha bLU cRU contingency program eligibility:
1.Rider must be of Canadian citizenship and in good standing with the CSBK series.
2.To be eligible for per-race contingency, rider must have competed for the entire event on a Yamaha R3 motorcycle. Contingency will not be awarded for riders competing on multiple brands at the same event.
3.The Yamaha name must be visible on both sides of the motorcycle.
4.A Yamaha bLU cRU sticker must be affixed to race bike (available from CSBK or Yamaha staff).
5.Results will be verified before payment.
6.There must be a minimum of 10 riders on the starting grid of any race for contingency to be paid out.
