Canada Moto Rallies announces Ontario-based event

Just outside the trail system, near Margaree Centre. This is a beautiful area, and I can't believe it's not a highlight of the east coast adventure riding scene.

Canada Moto Rallies has announced a new adventure bike event, and this time, it’s based in Ontario.

For several years, Canada Moto Rallies has run the Fundy Adventure Rally in Sussex, New Brunswick (you can see CMG’s history of coverage here). It’s always been a fun event, even when the weather didn’t cooperate. While the Fundy rally is always full, there’s always been demand for another rally in central Canada, closer for riders in Quebec and Ontario.

Now, that rally is here. The Doubeleader Adventure Challenge will run August 10-12 this summer, out of Mosport Canadian Tire Motorsport Park in Bowmanville, Ontario. That’s the same weekend as the final Canadian Superbike event—hence the name.

This year, the Doubleheader will have two days of gravel riding through the Kawartha/Northumberland area. Each day’s riding will be around 250 km, and will be GPS-guided. Just like at the Fundy rally, riders will be able to tackle some more difficult sections to add points to their event score, earning a Bronze, Silver or Gold certificate. Also, just like Fundy, riders must be part of a team, with at least two members.

Rally organizers have arranged the riding schedule so you should be off the trails in time to watch the Pro Superbike races as well; your rally tickets will allow you to access the races, and onsite camping for the weekend will cost you $42.

For more details, see the official press release below, or visit the rally’s website.

Canada Moto Rallies presents the Doubleheader Adventure Challenge 2018

What: THE DOUBLEHEADER ADVENTURE CHALLENGE

When: Friday August 10 to Sunday August 12, 2018

Where: Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, Bowmanville, ON

Registration for the 2018 Doubleheader Adventure Challenge (DAC) opened on February 16th for Team Captains and Team Riders to register for the Team Ride event.

The Team Ride consists of two days of 250+ kilometer GPS route through the spectacular Kawarthas and Northumberland area featuring terrain ideal for the adventure rider: varied, challenging, and scenic. Riders have the option of easier gravel roads or gnarlier dirt ones at each leg along the loop, the gnarlier options gaining more points. The number of points obtained will determine if a team leaves with a Bronze, Silver or Gold level certificate.

The event takes place during the Doubleheader Superbike Weekend at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, so there will be a lot of after ride action. The Saturday ride is designed to be completed before the 15:00 race time for the Superbikes allowing Adventure riders to not miss any of the track action. Your Doubleheader Adventure Challenge Tickets include your Weekend Super Ticket to CTMP and onsite camping for the weekend is only $42.

We’re arranging for demo rides on days 1 and 2 we’ll be offering workshops and rider presentations in the evenings. The Team ride kicks off on day 1 at 9:00am and we meet for the post-ride dinner for food and tall tales. The big finale awards banquet and prizes is held on Sunday morning. Registration close on July 30th.

  1. Zac – Do you know if another Dawn-To-Dusk will be running this summer out of Markham? It was fun last year. Eric did a great job organizing things and leading the group. It would be nice to include a dirt route this year for dual-sports though.

    • Hey Mike, I don’t think so, although it’s not my call. It’s really hard to get the industry behind a niche event like this, as I know all too well from when I used to organize it meself …

Having said that, I might do a similar run with some friends out here, strictly informal …

  2. Hmm …. tempted to bring a totally inappropriate burglar 400 on this (or a kymco people since that’s what is in the fleet currently)
