Husqvarna unveils Vitpilen 701 production bike

The Husqvarna Vitpilen 701 has been confirmed for production, and should be in our market by next riding season.

The Vitpilen 701 is supposed to be a street-legal flat-tracker, although that description seems to be a bit of a stretch. It is, however, typical of the modern neo-retro look that Husqvarna itself pioneered. It has a chrome-moly steel trellis frame, and much of the same powertrain as the 701 Enduro. That means it has that smooth, powerful single-cylinder motor (good for 75 hp, 53 lb-ft of torque), ride-by-wire throttle and slipper clutch—however, there’s no mention of engine modes.

Suspension is from WP, with 43 mm USD shocks. There’s a WP monoshock in back as well; suspension travel is 135 mm. The Vitpilen 701 has 17-inch wheels front and rear, a 12-litre fuel tank, 830 mm seat height, and dry weight is 157 kg. It comes equipped with Bridgestone Battleax rubber.

Just like the 701 Enduro, the Vitpilen comes with high-spec braking components. The front disc is a 320 mm single disc, with radial-mount Brembo four-piston caliper. The rear brake has a single 240 mm disc, with one-piston caliper. Brembo also provides the two-channel ABS system.

Husqvarna says we will see the new 701 Vitpilen in North America for 2018, but there’s been no talk of pricing yet.
