Asphalt & Rubber is reporting we’re finally going to see the Ducati Scrambler 1100 released at EICMA.
For a few months now, we’ve heard rumours that Ducati will resurrect its air-cooled two-valve 1078 cc L-twin, dropping it into a Scrambler. Given the recycled nature of much of the tech in the Scrambler lineup, it would make sense and fit a pattern started when Bologna unveiled the first bike in the series.
At one point, we expected to see this machine appear at EICMA last year, but that didn’t happen. Now, A&R says it will happen this time, according to their “Bothan Spies” sources, who are usually pretty well-connected.
Given that there’s already a 400-class Scrambler and five in the 800-class. this model would give Ducati an upscale bike to sell to customers who’ve worked their way up through the ranks and want a premium big-bore machine with the Scrambler name. As such, the timing on this model would likely be perfect, as the original Scramblers have been on the market enough that plenty of the brand’s fans are likely ready for the upsell at this point.
