Emissions docs confirm Ninja 400

Emissions documents from California have confirmed the return of the Ninja 400.

Of course, this doesn’t come as a surprise; the Ninja 400 was first spied back in July, when a Kawasaki crew was spotted filming an advert for the bike in the US (see that story here). However, the CARB docs (spotted by Motorcycle.com) do clear up at least one question.

According to the emissions paperwork, the new Ninja 400 will be 399 cc, not an optimistically-named 350. Does that mean it’s another parallel twin? A triple? We’ll know more when it’s unveiled, presumably at EICMA, but possibly at next week’s Tokyo show.

  1. The last time around, here in Canada we got a shrunken 650 twin and it was a dog.
Let’s hope the new one doesn’t repeat the same mistake.

    • Very good chance it’s a re-engineered 300. Larger engine and a reinforced frame. That sleeved-down 400 was a bit of a dog.
