After his impressive double win at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, Jordan Szoke is once more atop the BMW Motorrad Race Trophy standings.
Szoke’s double win and almost-flawless season (Bodhi Edie won the Grand Bend race after it was red-flagged) adds up to an even 400 points in the standings. He could still enter races in the US, but those points wouldn’t count towards his total in the Race Trophy standings; competitors can only count points from one race series.
His closest competition is Germany’s Markus Reiterberger. Reiterberger has 346.04 points in the International German Championship series, and was the winner in 2014. He’s always close to the top, just like Szoke. Sebastien Le Grelle is in third place, with 305.09 points in the IRRC championship series. Kenny Foray is in fourth with 297.83 in the FSBK series. Nobody else has topped the 275-point mark, and it would be a long shot for them to challenge at this point.
If Szoke wins, it will be his second Motorrad Race Trophy in a row, and he’ll get to go to Europe to collect a nice big cheque from BMW, which likely goes a long way towards putting gas into his race bike. The winner collects 15,000 Euros, the second-place finisher gets 10,000 Euros, and third place gets 7,500 Euros, so as long as he’s in the top three, Szoke will be in some decent money.
