Valentino Rossi hoping to push through pain, race at Mugello

Despite a serious crash while training on a motocross bike, MotoGP’s Valentino Rossi says he still hopes to race at his home track this weekend.

Rossi was severely banged up in his crash a few days back, ending up in hospital for a while. He still has severe pain in his chest and abdominal area, but he says his condition is improving every day.

Despite the discomfort, Rossi says he has a strong desire to race this weekend at Mugello. He’s always performed well at the Italian track (although last year was overshadowed by engine failure and a DNF), and he’ll have thousands of fans there watching, so it’s no wonder he feels the urge to show up. But despite his intentions, he has to pass a medical examination today before he can race.
