The two sides of cager danger (NSFW language)

Here are two more videos in the “what we’re up against” category, showing the danger we face every day from cagers. Although, the second situation could have been avoided with a cool head.

The first video, above, is from an Los Angeles freeway, where filtering/lane splitting is legal. A motorcyclist riding in the commuter lane has a car illegally pull in front of him, without signaling, then continue driving after the rider lands on the back of the car.

Much swearing ensues, but at least the rider seems to be OK, even if his bike isn’t.

The second video below is, according to Internet rumour, the same rider, although we can’t confirm that report. It’s even possible the whole incident was staged. Regardless, it is a good example of what not to do, if you’re involved in a sketchy traffic situation. The rider gets caught up in a few moments of aggression with another motorist, and ends up ostensibly taking a beating and having his GoPro stolen after threatening the cager. Next time you’re getting upset at a cager’s behaviour, remember, things can go south very quickly. Frankly, this rider is fortunate things didn’t go worse.

  1. Vid 1 : Wow! I guess that loud pipes really do save lives!! Too bad they didn’t prevent the collision, but at least they saved his life. Damn! I’m putting loud pipes on everything from now on. My snowblower, lawnmower, weed-wacker and Lada are going to be so safe, yet bad-ass…

  2. Bad drivers, both of them, but the bike is responsible.

Lower your speed and slow down when passing a slow lane. It’s just basic common sense.

    • In the first vid, it seemed that the rider had an eternity to either brake or swerve.
He obviously wasn’t paying attention to his surroundings and didn’t know his ‘out’. Indeed, lucky to be alive.

In the second vid, pure ‘dumbassery’ by the rider.
Not good to be a dumbass, especially as your ass is being kicked and rightly so.
Lucky that the dumbass met a mild mannered citizen and not a thug with a gun. Shameful behaviour by this rider.
