Crash puts John McGuinness in hospital

A crash at a practice session for the North West 200 has put John McGuinness in doubt for the Isle of Man TT.

Honda’s top street circuit racer crashed in yesterday’s Superbike practice session, and went to hospital. Early reports seem to indicate everyone thinks McGuinness broke his leg in the crash, although we haven’t seen that officially confirmed yet.

After the crash, Honda racing officials took teammate Guy Martin out of the race, as the cause of the crash hasn’t been determined yet, and there could be an issue with the new Honda CBR1000 Mcguinness was riding; since it’s a new-for-2017 model, expect to see Honda approach this accident very cautiously. But even if McGuinness isn’t back for the IOMTT, we’d certainly expect to see Martin’s bike back on track by that point.
