Bike-blocking dangerous driver gets 15-year sentence: Report

Some CMG readers might remember this article from 2015, with video clips of a car driver who pulled out to swideswipe a passing motorcycle; after causing the crash, the cager was unrepentent, saying he didn’t care what happened to the rider and pillion.

The car driver (69-year-old Williamn Crum) probably cares now, as he has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for the vehicular attack, which put the 38-year-old female pillion into an intensive care unit.

The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports Crum was convicted of two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. It’s unclear if Crum once again raised his “spider defence” in court; after the crash, Crum had blamed his actions on a spider bite. Regardless of his legal strategy, the jury trial only took two days.

  1. Friggin’ terrible. If you only knew what was ‘sharing’ the road w/ you, you wouldn’t go out unless you were driving a Leopard ll. Seriously. This great court outcome is wonderful for those of us who ride but it fixes nothing for the people on that motorcycle. Trusting that the follow-on lawsuit helps w/ that. Can’t un-do the wreck, though.

What a sad, pathetic excuse for a man. May his time in prison be really ‘educational’… And by ‘educational’, well, I don’t really mean that.

    John.

  2. Yup, pretty scary, ugly incident… the guy has complete disregard for other’s lives. There are many instances when we witness or do something stupid or dangerous, but what makes this situation worse is the guy took it into his own hands to act out and “teach ’em a lesson”. It just made an already dangerous situation (speeding bikes) into a potentially deadly one!

Glad to see he was nailed for it… Karma baby
