The Monkey Run heads to Peru

Soon, one of the world’s most adventurous rallies is headed to the mountains of Peru. And no, we’re not talking about the Dakar—we’re talking about the Monkey Run.

Months ago, we told you about the first Monkey Run in Morocco. This event is run by The Adventurists, the same madmen (or madwomen) who organize the Ice Run and the Rickshaw Run. They do non-motorized adventures as well, but we think the motorcycle-based stuff is the coolest, naturally.

Anyway: The Monkey Run started in Morocco, but as is so often the case with The Adventurists’ events, they’ve added another country to the list. The event has a South American date now. headed to Peru in the fall.

The event runs Sept. 7-15, and will cost £1200 per bike. For that money, you get, the monkey bike itself, transported to the start line, with Peruvian paperwork and insurance all cleared. There’s a party at the start and finish, and of course, the week of minibike madness in the Andes.
