MotoMatters’ David Emmett got a hot tip at the recent Ducati MotoGP team launch; according to CEO Claudio Domenicali, there’s a Ducati V4 superbike coming.

According to Emmett, Domenicali said the new engine would be for a street-legal superbike, but it would be a premium model, sold at a premium price. Although it would likely be World Superbike-legal, Emmett says it “would have a lot of MotoGP technology inside it.”

Emmett figures the new bike would be racing in national series and possibly WSB’s Superstock 1000 series by 2018, and racing in World Superbike by 2019. Read more details and thoughts on the V4 platform here.
