Tyco BMW has bikes stolen

Tyco BMW, the British roadracing powerhouse that dominates street circuit racing with names like Ian Hutchinson and Guy Martin signed up, has had a big chunk of its race fleet stolen.

Tyco had its bikes stolen from the back of a van near the UK’s Motorcycle Live show sometime Sunday night, after the race machines had been on display for the weekend.

Bikes stolen include the Superstock-spec BMW S1000RR used by Hutchinson to win at the North West 200 and the Ulster GP last year, as well as the BMW S1000RR used by Guy Martin. The other two bikes were ridden by Christian Iddon.

It’s unclear whether the thieves knew exactly what they were getting their hands on; scruples aside, it’s unlikely any other roadracer would want to touch these machines, as they’re pretty distinctive. It would be tricky for even a collector to keep these machines under wraps. Hopefully the police find the bikes before too long, as it would be a shame to see them cut up for a black-market parts sale.
