Here’s Kawasaki’s new motorcycle AI technology

Kawasaki has released a new video showing the company’s plan for its new motorcycle artificial intelligence system that we told you about a few weeks ago.

The video, seen above, does little to go into the technology behind the “smart bike,” but it does depict what a standard afternoon’s ride would look like, if your bike featured Kawasaki’s AI system.

Which leads us to the most important question of all: Is this a feature you’d actually want on a motorcycle? The safety features look interesting, although that sort of traffic-reading AI might not be very likely in North American cities. But a motorcycle that automatically takes selfies and invites your son for a group ride? Sounds like a feature Big Brother would love …

  1. No, no, no. I just want a reliable bike that doesn’t talk to me. I’ve been riding just over 50 years now, and I really don’t need the distraction of a robot bothering me. I can look at the gauges.

AND it’s more crap to break.

Now you damn kids get of my lawn!

  2. Hahaha nope, nope, nope…

“I’ve data recorded that monster wheelie you just pulled and have notified the authorities. Now that your engine has been shut down, please wait quietly by the side of the road for them to come get you.”

I’m with uploader1 on this, I ride to get away from this crap. If you want ai to do all of your thinking, you may as well stay home and watch a movie of a motorcycle ride.

  3. The advanced traffic alerting, possibly (if it actually works – I have my doubts unless all vehicles have V2V communication, which is decades away). The rest of it, they can keep.

  4. Telling me about the engine condition is not a bad idea and the traffic light tip is interesting but as far as i `m concerned they can bin the rest and never come back with this idea.
