EICMA: The most gorgeous bike at the show

We don’t care this is only a concept. We don’t care it’s no good for riding through Mongolia, or down the road for a pack of smokes. We don’t even care that it’s not Italian, or that we’re not quite sure what “Vitpilen” means in Swedish (It means “white arrow” – Ed.).

The Husqvarna Vitpilen 401 Aero is the most stunning motorcycle at EICMA this year. There – we said it.

It’s a single-cylinder “real street” bike based on the 375 cc engine in the regular Vitpilen 401, but with a fairing designed to both cut through the wind and provide optimal cooling.

Husqvarna says the windshield encourages a more locked-in position, so “the rider’s helmet becomes part of the airflow in what is a fully immersive riding position.”

It’s probably damn uncomfortable, but did we mention that we don’t care?

  1. You can’t be serious – this thing is so ugly you’d have to tie a pork chop to the front wheel to get the dog to pee on it. So ugly that when you walk by it, your clothes wrinkle. UGH-ly. If you want good looking bikes at that shindig, check out the Yamaha XSR900 Abarth or FZ07 Tenere, the Ducati Cafe Racer or Desert Sled, the Honda CRF250 rally….or my personal favourite, the BMW R nine T Uurban. Please, put the Screech away and repost this tomorrow. 🙂

    • I think it’s tastefully done, there’s nothing quite like it on the market. Sharp, bold edges with subtle round edges where it’s needed. If only they could slap a Twin in, that would be great. But these single cylinder bikes are designed for the Indian riders in mind, i don’t think they would shove anything more than a cylinder in the bike.

      • Possibly. These things often do look better in person.
OTOH, I’m not a big fan generally of bikes that look like something squashed everything on top down to the same height.
