In a world where custom builders are cranking out cafe racers so quick they’re looking more and more unfinished all the time, it’s a pleasure to see one that’s well put together — especially if it comes that way from the factory.
The Ducati Scrambler Cafe Racer fills that bill. Unveiled at EICMA today, it’s just what we expected: A modern classic built around their 803 cc air-cooled twin-cylinder engine.
The Cafe Racer should be more nimble than the rest of the Scrambler lineup, as it rolls on 17-inch wheels with Pirelli Diablo Rosso II tires. The other Scrambler models have 18-inch front wheels.
The spec sheet is nothing impressive (75 hp), as this is part of Ducati’s budget line, not on par with the Superleggara. We haven’t seen a Canadian price yet, but we’d expect the bike to arrive sometime next winter.

I like it except for the silly number plate side covers. As with the V7, the number plate detracts (for me) from an otherwise adult ride.

I’m still betting 12-13thou for a bike that would be shamed by a FZ09 that’s selling for 4G’s less.
And why 54? Is a 69 extra?
Yamaha’s FZ09 and 07 are the current best-value fun-for-bucks machines on the planet, imo. Spent some time on an FJ-09 this summer, and I’m thinking there may be an FJ-07 in my future.
