According to the Daily Mail, former MotoGP world champion Wayne Gardner has been arrested in Japan, over a road rage incident.

The Mail reports Gardner, winner of the ’87 500 cc title (well back into the two-stroke era), was allegedly involved in an altercation with three other men when his vehicle scratched theirs. He was arrested afterwards at the Motegi circuit.

The Herald Sun’s report on the incident only mentions that Gardner was questioned in the incident, and that the ballyhoo caused Gardner’s son (Remy, 18 years old) to miss the Moto2 warm-up, although he did complete the race. Remy is currently piloting a Kalex for Tasca Racing.

Gardner reportedly said he was only scuffling as an attempt to get away from the other three men.
