Intermot: Aprilia announces updated RSV4 RF, Tuono V4 1100

Aprilia has announced updates to its RSV4 RF and Tuono V4 1100, with revised electronics packages, changes to the suspension and other tweaks.

The superbike and its closely-related naked bike both get minor tweaks to the electronics package. The wheelie control and traction control are both adjustable on-the-fly, without closing the throttle (just in case that was a pressing concern), and feature refinements to their settings.

More importantly, the bikes now get leaning ABS, thanks to Bosch’s 9.1 MP motorcycle stability system. Both bikes also offer three-setting launch control, cruise control, pit lane speed limiter, and an upgraded quickshifter that allows clutchless, open-throttle downshifting.

The RSV4 RF now has Ohlins’ latest NIX forks and TTX shock, and the Tuono V4 1100 gets the NIX forks and has the TTX shock available as an optional upgrade. The machines now have Brembo M50 brake calipers mated to 330 mm discs up front, and a radial master cylinder.

The RSV4 RF still makes 201 hp, despite changes to the engine.

In what’s sure to be the theme of this year’s show circuit, both machines also saw changes to bring in Euro4 emissions compliance. That meant a new exhaust for 2017, which also gives the engine another 500 rpm of revs. The RSV4 RF is now rated to make 201 hp, and the Tuono is said to make 175 hp, same as previous versions of these bikes.

The TFT instrument panel is slightly changed, and buyers can also access the newest version of Aprilia’s smartphone-based datalogging system, which includes some tracks already programmed into the system.
