Erik Buell Racing says new bikes coming

Erik Buell Racing says it’s working on new motorcycles.

Last week, the company’s Facebook page talked about what sounded like three upcoming machines: Something that’s “Quick, Dark, and Low,” something in the 1190 lineup, and something for under $10,000 (to be released next year).

Presumably, the first bike will be some sort of muscle cruiser, like the Ducati Diavel or Yamaha V-Max. The new 1190 is most likely the long-rumoured adventure model. The other bike? Who knows? Knowing EBR’s long association with Rotax, we wouldn’t be surprised to see something with an engine from them, but it’s anyone’s guess. For now, the ownership seems stable, but if that scenario changes, the lineup may remain the same, or even drop models.

For now, there are no Canadian EBR dealers anyway, so it doesn’t matter if the company brings in a sub-$5000 bike, a dual sport, a sport tourer — we aren’t able to buy it here anyway, and probably won’t be able to anytime soon. Even when Erik Buell’s company was going great guns, pre-bankruptcy, their machines were not available here.
