Documents point to new Ducati Scrambler models

Once again, the California Air Resource Board has spilled the beans on upcoming motorcycle models.

This time, CARB published a document that seems to indicate two new Scrambler models coming from Ducati, a dual sport and a cafe racer (Scrambler CR and Scrambler DS). What’s that, you say, a scrambler and a cafe racer are two different things? You’re right, of course. But as we’ve told you before — Ducati plans to use the Scrambler name as a brand of lower-priced entry-level bikes, not just a specific model style.

Aside from the names, the CARB document reveals little; the bikes will have the same 803 cc L-twin that already powers the other Scrambler models. Spy shots of the dual sport model (looking almost like an old HP2 Beemer) have already been published, but we haven’t seen that cafe racer yet.

We could see the new Scramblers unveiled at Intermot, but it’s more likely Ducati will wait until they’re on home turf at the EICMA show.
