Yamaha has released a video that seems to indicate a new R6 sportbike is coming on October 4. during the Intermot show.
While the video doesn’t show much in the way of model identification, it’s hard to imagine Yamaha introducing a new R1 when the previous model is still fresh. It’s definitely a four-cylinder exhaust note, so bet on a new R6, especially since that line hasn’t seen an update in some time.
The news will be welcome to supersport fans, as the 600 cc class has been stagnant for some time. The only up-to-date model is Kawasaki’s ZX6, which has an electronics package similar to what you’d see on a modern superbike.
We’ll know more details on the new bike when it debuts at Intermot in October.
